Five Tenents of Tae Kwon Do

COURTESY

Students must always strive to be courteous. Courtesy displays respect not only for others, but for yourself. True achievement can not be obtained without having this respect.

INTEGRITY

Integrity can be defined as an adherence to a code of values, i.e. honesty. A student must be honest with himself and others if he is to achieve his goals. Another part of integrity is loyalty; to one's country, friends, family, and the art of Taekwondo.

SELF-CONTROL

Students must purposefully control and direct their energies both in and outside of the dojang. Power without self-control can be dangerous.

PERSERVERANCE

Perseverance is the ability to go on in spite of any difficulties, obstacles, or setbacks. Students must be able to persist until they can reach the goals they have set for themselves.

INDOMITABLE SPIRIT

Students must work to develop a spirit that is undaunted and undefeatable when obstacles are placed in their paths.
